Houston We Have a Problem

For the past few seasons the Houston Texans were apart of the upper echelon teams in the AFC. After falling short of making the Super Bowl the Texans appeared that they were next in line in the AFC this upcoming season. Prior to this NFL season the Texans appeared to have zero holes on paper.

On offense there was a boat load of talent. With Matt Schaub, Arian Foster, and Andre Johnson the Texans boasted their own version of the “triplets”. Combining those three with a great offensive line and great complimentary players such as Ben Tate and Owen Daniels the Texans offense appeared that it would be on the right path this season.

The defense appeared to be just as talented as well. With J.J. Watt, Brian Cushing, Brooks Reed, and Jonathon Joseph leading the troops the Texans appeared to be one of few teams that had both offensive and defensive depth and balance.

Despite all of the talent that the Texans have they are now sitting at 2-8. With the injury bug and Matt Schaub’s sudden diagnosis of being color blind the Texas are back to where many didn’t expect them to be.

The Quarterback is the most important position in football, and when the ship sinks at the Quarterback position there is really nothing that can be done. Prior to this season Schaub has been a pretty consistent quarterback, but he was pulled from the lineup due to turnovers. Case Keenum has put up pretty good numbers, but he is not the long term answer for the Texans.

After losing to the Raiders this past weekend, All-Pro WR Andre Johnson left the field prematurely after having a sideline argument with Matt Schaub. Johnson, who is known to be one of the quiet guys in the NFL was out of character on all levels. This comes to show you how much frustration is being dealt with in Houston.

This season is a wash, but lucky enough the Texans have enough talent to get back to AFC supremacy next season. I don’t expect Schaub to be back, and I don’t see Case Keenum starting as well.

I will say that there is a quarterback in college football that is down the interstate from the Texans that could help out the Texans in a huge way. I highly doubt he will come back to college, and with the Texans position in the draft they would be in perfect position to pick him.

Is Johnny Football the answer to Houston Texans fans prayers? That is yet to be determined, but I do know that he can assist with some of the problems in Houston if he is available.

Well, Johnny is not in Houston to save the day as of yet, so they have to deal with the problems of today, and worry about what’s next after the season is over with.
